Asus Eee PC 1015PN-PU17 Review
Asus Eee PC has more varieties than we can count Netbook handy if you have lost track, you are not alone. Ion Nvidia graphics are great addition to the Asus Eee PC 1015PN-PU17, a $ 429 high-end configuration of the Eee PC 1015PEM and 1015PED. The 10.1-inch netbook, like the 1015PEM, also sports a new dual-core Atom N550 CPU.
We put in our review of the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM that the dual-core Atom slight performance improvements delivered without additional charge battery life or your wallet; offer dedicated Ion graphics an additional performance boost when it comes to video playback and even comes little gameplay, but at a higher cost in both instances. The 1015PN with Ion is more expensive than the $ 60 Dual Core Asus without.
Even with an over-$ 400 price, the Eee PC 1015PN begins to edge uncomfortably close to 11.6-inch sub-notebooks like the Dell M101z that offer better performance. And despite the premium price tag and features, the Eee PC 1015PN corners cuts to other Data: Windows 7, only 1 GB of RAM, and a lack of a HD screen feel like disconnects. This is the best of all three Eee PC 10-inch Netbooks we’ve looked in the 1015 line, but the cost can be a deterrent to some.
How many of the previous Eee PC from Asus Netbooks 1015PN has a sleek, teardrop-shaped side profile, wider at the back and tapers to a point at the nose. It is largely the same tapered/curved design we have on most Asus Eee PCs in the last year or so seen, and it is difficult to apply to get excited about another step-like structure. Smooth surface finish on the back cover and keyboard cover guard against fingerprints, but still show some ambient glow. The Eee PC line comes in red, blue, white and black, our black model had a flat surface, which showed a few spots fingerprint. The back cover is fairly thick, and the whole unit feels solid, even a little tight, but the compact form felt easy to stow. Having no protruding edges or batteries other than a slight bump on the rear underside is a plus.

The edge to edge raised Chiclet keyboard feels fresh and has no flex, but smaller than full-size keys after a while felt tight. In particular, small palm rest feel under too small for a simple tap round. A large multi-touch touchpad is of the same comfortable matte-smooth cover/palm rest material, and is defined by a thin strip of silver on the left and right, a slight change from previous Eee PC models. The touchpad felt wider and less hedged than previous models, though our thumbs land on the pad closer to the input. A thin plastic button bar below is small but has a solid click.
Above the keyboard a little plastic power button sits on the right side, and a Quick Start button Side-by-side is a Wi-Fi on/off button on the left. Asus Express Gate Cloud Quick-Start-OS is a stripped down environment with its own browser, photo app, and a few other features. Despite its faster boot time, we doubt whether many people with his performance and limited opportunities will be satisfied, most will simply choose to boot Windows and keep the Eee PC in sleep mode between sessions. The 10.1-inch LED display on the mat 1015PN has a maximum resolution of 1,024 x600 pixels – standard for netbooks, but we have shows 1366 x 768 pixels 10-inch netbook noticed more often. For the higher price, we expect a higher resolution display in the 1015PN. Photos and videos looked crisp and perspective were adequate, but web sites felt close to this limited resolution.
Stereo speakers, located on the bottom front edge of the Eee PC 1015PN offered louder than average audio actually sounded pretty good for video ads. You are not extravagant musical, but they are definitely good enough for most needs.
Asus chose to add a physical lens cover slider to VGA Webcam, supposedly to make people afraid to protect recorded unknowingly. It seems a little silly, and when the tab is closed, some think, temporarily, her webcam is not working anymore. Regardless, the image quality for basic video chat, but its contrasting dark silhouettes created. Cyberlink YouCam software on the system that can select from a pull-down software widget on the desktop and links to various Asus cloud storage services, and links to start included.

Netbooks rarely surprised when it regards to connections and features, and the Asus Eee PC does not break form. It does, however, add HDMI, something was missing other Eee PC 1015 models. This allows the 1015PN on HD video output to a larger monitor or TV.
The speed of the Atom N550 CPU, contain very similar to its single-core brethren, so are most of the daily tasks exactly the same as they do on other netbook. Multitasking means improvements seen, although we ask how much we really do to multitask on a tiny 10-inch netbook with such limited screen space.
The most notable addition to this Eee PC is Ion Nvidia graphics. Although Nvidia Optimus automatically switching technology is not clear on this netbook is available with specific ion helps GPU with HD video playback and streaming. Full-screen Netflix looked very good; ABC Flash-based video player also saw great. Hulu in full screen mode was choppier than that, but still very watchable. If nothing else, this ion Eee PC turns into a video-enabled device – something that many are not really Atom netbooks.
Games can be played, within reason. Unreal Tournament III was 27.4fps in native 1024 x600 pixels, and we found other casual or older mainstream games very playable on the Eee PC 1015PN. The one big drawback, in addition to the small screen, comes from the increased fan-blown heat waves, which for this page Eee PC when using GPU-intensive tasks such as Flash 10.1 streaming video playback.

With so much heat dissipation would expect it, it would take a toll on battery life, yes it does.
The Asus Eee PC 1015PN six-cell battery lasted 4 hours and 26 minutes on our video playback battery drain test. This is more than an hour less than the otherwise identical ion-free Eee PC 1015PEM. More than 4 hours is still good enough for some, but the graphics power takes a toll on this laptop, how much juice you get. Play a lot of Flash-based videos or games, and you will for an outlet that much earlier position.
Asus offers a standard warranty of one year with the Eee PC 1015PN. Support through a 24-7 toll-free telephone line on the Internet and an online knowledge base and driver downloads are available on its website.
