Lenovo G550 Review
Lenovo has been awarded for the production of value for money laptops and notebooks, the G-series, they applauded the man for it. The budget-minded mainstream laptops pack a decent sized 15.6 inch display, Intel Pentium dual-core processor and 3 GB of DDR3 RAM for a standard configuration. The published price of around $ 500 may netbookish but the display size and performance is not nonsense. Let’s take a closer look at the laptop to find out if they lower the price of something important waived.
Design
The laptop is a total plastic materials acceptable for a budget notebook is built. However, the design looks very elegant from the outside with a black weave pattern on it. The plastic is strong enough to withstand a certain pressure and there is hardly a noticeable flex when we tried to put at rest, pressure on some of the most depressed areas of design such as the back of the screen or the palm. Overall we are very pleased with the building design, or are satisfied.
Performance
The standard system comes with an Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 processor clocking at 2.0 GHz with 1 MB of L2 cache and 800 MHz FSB. The 3GB DDR3 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM is enough for all your needs a basic machine such as surfing the net and plays SD or HD movies and play some 2D games. The graphics performance of Intel’s Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD is also satisfied when you play in 3D games. The 250 GB Western Digital 5400 RPM hard drive or Super Multi DVD-RW drive is also quite fast, to go with.
Display
The display has a good size of 15.6 inch displays 1366 x 768 pixels in standard-16: 9 aspect ratio. The screen is a glossy one, which many bright colors and contrast, but as with other glossy displays, the reporting of blinding in bright environments such as the office is very annoying to see things on the screen. The horizontal viewing angle was very good on the screen with a few friends, but the vertical viewing angle is not much good to share.

Keyboard
We have always been a fan of the Lenovo Laptop Keyboard for their durability and smoothness. This keyboard is no exception to this rule. The keys have good smooth travel and feedback. The light, matte finish and a good feel of the keys to the fingertips. There were also a number code of the keyboard, which is very rare in notebook keyboards these days to see.
TouchPad
The touchpad, on the other side was not so very impressive. The touchpad sensitivity is on the lower side, and say it was a bit annoyed that the movement of the cursor on the screen lags indeed your finger movements on the touchpad. However, the buttons are comfortable with a nice click sound when pressed.
Ports
The laptop has a USB, optical drive and the AC jack on the right side, and a Kensington lock, LAN, VGA and two USB ports on the left side. The wireless on off switch, and headphone and microphone jacks are on the front and there are no connectors on the back. We do not expect HDMI or FireWire port of a budget notebook price but at least a different USB port was expected from a 15-inch notebook. Also, there is no Express Card slot or memory card reader slot found on them. We must say that the laptop has bare minimum ports, leave the place wanting only to provide further information.
Audio
We do not expect this bass-throbbing from the budget laptop and it turned out to be exactly matching our expectations. There was no bass at all, but the overall sound is good enough to lead a Webchat on. Playing music on the device sounded a bit small and a good pair of headphones is recommended, as always is.

Battery Life
The system comes with a 5-cell 48 W-Hr battery that is enough for the operation of the system for more than four hours in low to moderate consumption declined with screen brightness. Expect to run the system on at least 3 hours with heavy usage and bright screen.
Conclusion
The Lenovo G550 is a solid budget notebook with decent performance. If you use the touchpad becomes unresponsive and no longer need to stand up port than what it has, it is recommended for those who are in search of a mainstream computer to the household.
