Sony Vaio W will be more expensive in Australia than in the US

A lot of people have pointed out that the Sony Vaio Mini W start price of $ 499 in the U.S. is about 100 U.S. dollars more expensive than comparable notebooks from other companies. But that’s nothing compared to the premium Sony is charging Australian customers. In this country, the mini Vaio W will sell for $ 999 AUD or about $ 776 U.S..

On the one side, most computers do not cost more in Australia than the U.S.. But the age indicates that most Netbook sell for about $ 600 Australian, or about $476  U.S.

Sony apparently has a few explanations: Exchange rates, Australian marketing and so on. But the only explanation I can come really, is that Sony does not really want to sell this many units Netbook in Australia.
