Duros is one of the three product lines of RMT Inc., the leading provider of fully rugged, highly customizable hardware solutions for demanding environments. Designed by JLT, duros tablet computers offer ultra-rugged computing solutions for the toughest conditions. Duros is the exclusive distributor in North America from JLT Mobile Computers, and is the original manufacturer of several other rugged computers on the market, including the 8560 and 8570 G2 Vehicle-mounted computer.

Duros has recently received the 8404 rugged Tablet PC designed specifically for users in the fields, in different environmental conditions. The Windows XP Tablet PC is sealed to IP-65 for dust and water ingress and tested to MIL-STD 810F for vibration, functional shock, high and low temperatures and drops.

Duros The 8404 has a 8.4-inch sunlight visible, SVGA (800×600 resolution) resistive touch screen display, the brightness of 1,100 nit levels and has a viewing angle of 120 degrees. It is supported by an Intel Celeron M 1.0 GHz or 1.0 GHz Intel Atom processor with 1 GB of RAM and up to 120 GB of hard drive or 64GB Solid State Drive for storage.

For the connection in this device is built Wi-Fi 802.11a b g, Ethernet port and Bluetooth V2 + EDR. Furthermore, this device can be used with GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, WCDMA, and GPS. The device has a hot-swap-capable 44Wh battery, which reduces downtime and continuous battery. It has a weight of 1.9Kgs and the dimensions are 10.2 (W) x 7.8 (H) x 1.7 (d)-inch. It also has a USB 2.0 port for external connections such as a pen drive.

The Asus Eee PC 1004DN, which initially consisted of a bow at CES earlier this year has finally started to ship in Taiwan, but there is no word on whether it will be made available to those outside the country in the near future.
